Ziepniekkalns Dune is a small but significant natural object in Riga, in the Ziepniekkalns area. It is a low sand dune with a hilly terrain, covered with dense stands of birch, pine, spruce and alder. This is one of the rare preserved dune landscapes in the city, and all improvements there are carried out in compliance with nature protection requirements. Ziepniekkalns Dune also grows a protected plant – meadow silybum, which is included in the Red Book of Latvia and the Baltic Sea Region, confirming the natural and ecological value of this territory.
